Bush Pig/Red River Hog

Habitat: Forest, moist savanna, and grasslands. Africa and Madagascar.
 
Diet: Plants, grasses, leaves, roots, frogs, mice and earthworms.
 
Enemies: Large cats, large snakes, and humans.
 
Facts: Young Bush pigs are striped at birth.
They live in packs which helps them to fight off predators.
They are active day and night.
 
The life span of a Bush pig is about 10-15 years.
Glands in the feet of the Bush pig are used to mark their territory.
They are about 100-110 cm, with a tail of 30-40 cm, and weigh 50-120 kg.
 
Bush pigs have been known to be carriers of disease like the virus for the African swine fever. Also, they sometimes carry tsetse flies which are responsible for illnesses like sleeping sickness.
 
Their sense of hearing and smell is excellent.
They use a system of "grunts" to communicate with other Bush pigs.
