- The Porta Pia is one of the last works
of Michelangelo(1475-1564).
Michelangelo designed the center way, two windows, two cartouches and
two medallions of the building.
The design of the existent center way is different from Michelangelo's
design. The existent design is Baroque style. Refer to the S. Maria
della Salute by Baldassare Longhena
- The upper part was constructed at 1853
and had bloken pediment which must be different from Michelangelo's
design.
- The city gate is a kind of a entrance so
that it faces normally to the outside but the Porta Pia faces Roma
City. This meanes the Porta Pia was not designed for a entrance but
for a element of the Roma City as a theater.
- The design of the center part combine
and penetrate two stories. This manner deviate from Renaissance style.
