Mansour, Farid

Born in Beirut - Lebanon in 1929
Attended ALBA in 1946 and was privately tutored by the Italian artist and teacher Fernando Manetti between 1946 and 1949

He studied in Italy in 1961 for two years and
Pursued his training in London from 1969 to 1973 learning sculpture, painting and etching at the City and Guilds of London Art School
From 1974 to 1976, he had private tuition in the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman departments at the British Museum and 

During 1976, he worked as a sculptor in Madame Tussaud's.
In 1977 he went back to Lebanon where he currently lives and works.


Since 1967 Mansour has been writing in a number of Lebanese and Arab publications about art and other cultural subjects. 


Between 1981 and 1985, he wrote regularly in the Lebanese weekly magazine Al Anbaa' and since 1986 in Al Azmina Al Arabiyya (Arabian Gulf). He also contributes to periodicals like Al Nidaa'.


Private Exhibitions

Amongst others, Mansour's one-man shows were held at the West Hall of AUB (1962); the Soviet Cultural Centre, Beirut (1978 and 1988); the Municipal Hall Choueifat, Lebanon (1980) and Exhibition Hall, Ras el Metn, Lebanon (1982).


Public Exhibitions

Mansour has been taking part in most of the group exhibitions held in Lebanon since 1959 including the Salons of the Sursock Museum, those of UNESCO, the Ministry of Tourism exhibitions, the ones held at the Palace of Bayt al Dine, at the Soviet Cultural Centre, and at the Lebanese University.

Works
 He has also participated in exhibitions in the Mall Galleries, London (1971-1976), in the Atturath Gallery, New York, (1983) and the National Museum of Damascus, Syria (1988).
