Expressionism (1905 - 1930)

Mainly German movement who depicted their innermost feelings rather than the world they observed around them. Their paintings are intense and very personal and feature violent, unreal colour and dramatic brushwork. ( Van Gogh ), Kirchner, Kokoshka, Munch, Rouault, Schmidt-Rotluff.
