Gothic (1125 – 1450)

Art in this period was strongly influenced by religion. Paintings were highly patterned and the human figure tended to be shown in an elongated form. The world was shown in a flat way with little use or understanding of perspective. Towards the end of the 14th century more refined images and natural themes started to appear in paintings. Duccio.
