| What is Origami ? |
Origami is the fascinating art of creating models and designs by folding paper. Although it is often thought of as being a pursuit for children, origami is practised as a hobby by people of all ages throughout the world. Traditionally, paper folding originated in Japan but such is it's popularity that there are origami clubs and societies in most countries. There is a truly amazing range of models that can be folded and new designs are being created all the time. These often appear in advertisments which have even included paper models of modern technology such as the mobile phone. The never ending popularity of origami stems from the ability to take something as mundane as a simple sheet of paper and transform it almost magically into an object that can be instantly recognised. There are designs for inflatable models such as the traditional water bomb plus action models, which move, such as the fox puppet and talking ogre. If you want to experience the amusement of this ancient art, make an inflatable frog and ask a friend to blow into the hole to finish the model. If you are familiar with this design you appreciate why it always raises a smile!!! Information provided by:
