In 1890s P. Shmelkov drew a series of caricatures OPhotographic posesO where merchants, artisans, and functionaries were the models.

The first photographers had to be not only patient but also strong enough to carry heavy cameras, glass plates with negatives, and tripods. The photographers had to be also brave. Photograph has always attracted caricaturists with its unpredictability, a dialogue between a person and a mechanism gave wide opportunities for the painters.

H. Bidsrup drew series of caricatures about photographers. In one of them girls beat a photographer for the pictures they did not like. In the OPinsO magazine of the 1970s a series of caricatures by S. Dali was published.
