French horn began as a kind of hunting horn, made with a single, wide circle
and a widely flaring bell. First manufactured in France during the late
17th century, it has subsequently had many changes in structure and playing
technique. The illustration, right , dramatically shows the many folds and
loops of the contemporary French horn. |
