St. Jude
(or Judas Thaddaeus), one of the Apostles, after Pentecost like other Apostles went on missionary work. According to the 6th century apocryphal texts he preached in Persia with Simon, where they were both martyred. They were found guilty in overturning statues of idols, and their throats were cut.
