Darren Almond is a broadcaster using film and photography as his main
media with sculpture and drawing to cushion his repertoire. His works
concentrate on exploring historical events, time and past personal experiences
- his work 'Traction' (1998/9) chronicles a discussion between Darren
and his father remembering the injuries that the father endured whilst
a construction worker. The composition is balanced by filming Almond's
mother listening on the other screen. There is a tension within the triangle.
Almond's work 'Oswiecem' explores the scars and memories of the camp at
Auschwitz reiterating his concern with historical events and time.
Darren Almond was the youngest exhibitor at 'Sensation' (1997) and has exhibited over America and Europe extensively. |
