Davies, Peter
He was born in South Wales just prior to the Second World War, living in the beautiful seaside village of Mumbles, where my father was mechanic of the Mumbles Lifeboat. Here I spent my early years, until my father was tragically killed in the 1947 disaster. The family moved to Swansea until the Minister of War required me, to safeguard my country with two years National Service in an infantry battalion, stationed chiefly in Germany. College and a lifetime of teaching were to follow this army service. Seven years imparting the joys of History to the secondary modern youngster eventually gave way to the more challenging but certainly for me, more enjoyable occupation with special needs children. From these young people I learned so much about the important aspects of life. Their courage and wicked sense of humour was destined to rub over everyone who crossed their path, including this poor subject.
Now that I've retired there is the prospect to widen my interest in History. However being awkward, I like to play with events. The age old question, What if? I like a thriller and intrigue and have attempted to supply these ingredients together in my first novel "Lookout Mr Maquire" and to a greater degree in the second "The Missing Cross". At first I felt that my simple efforts would be of no interest to the public at large, no, but a rather bias affectionate family has convinced me to let others make this assessment, so here goes and if you read either story I hope you find them pleasing
