Goldring, Winifred (1888-1971)

US palaeontologist whose research focused on Devonian fossils.
She did much to popularize geology.

Goldring began her work in palaeobotany 1916. During the late 1920s and the 1930s, as well as geologically mapping the Coxsackie and Berne quadrangles of New York, she developed and maintained the State Museum's public programme in palaeontology.
Her works include The Devonian Crinoids of the State of New York 1923 and Handbook of Paleontology for Beginners and Amateurs 1929-31.
