Jacuzzi, Candido (1903-1986)
Businessman, inventor. Born in Casarza della Delizia, Italy. His family emigrated to Berkeley, California, where the Jacuzzi Brothers, Inc., produced an airplane propeller for use during World War I. In 1968, Candido’s brother Ray, designed the first self-contained whirlpool bath and since then Jacuzzi has become a household name. For the past almost fifty years, the jacuzzi has also been adopted as an essential accessory for hedonists all around the world
Jacuzzi is the trademark name of the whirlpool hot tub, whose constant stream of high pressure water massages the body.
The bath was used as a form of therapy for his infant son, Kenny, who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. The jets of warm water pulsated over the little boy’s aching body, bringing much needed relief.
