Lewandowski, Edmund D
(1914 - 1998)
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Edmund Lewandowski known for his marine and coastal views, studied at the Layton School of Art from 1931 to 1935 and was on that faculty from 1947 to 1949. From 1949 to 1954, he was Professor and then Head of the Art Department at Florida State University.
From 1954 to 1972, he was President of the Layton School of Art. From 1973 to 1984, he headed the Art Department at Winthrop College in Rock Hill South Carolina and then until his death in 1998, was Professor Emeritus at Winthrop.
He is buried in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
