Tudor, Antony (1908-1987)

British dancer and choreographer, whose works brought new psychological depth to ballet. Born in London, he joined the company of his teacher, Polish-English dancer Dame Marie Rambert, in 1930. He joined the Ballet Theatre (now American Ballet Theatre) in 1939. He was later director of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet (1950-1974) and associate director of American Ballet Theatre (1974-1980).
