Indonesia

Indonesia, in political geography, designation officially applied, after September 20, 1948, to the Netherlands Indies, according to an amendment to the constitution of the Netherlands. The term is now used as the short form of republic of Indonesia (see Indonesia, Republic of). Before 1948 it was often applied to the entire Malay Archipelago.
