We close the discussion of Venus by noting that despite the original
prejudices that Earth and Venus were sister planets, there are many differences
between them. Among them we may list the following features of Venus that differ
substantially from the corresponding situation for the Earth.
- The slow rotational period.
- The single-plate surface.
- The lack of a satellite.
- The extremely weak magnetic field.
- The lack of water.
- The high surface temperature and dense atmosphere.
These and other
differences, only some of which we understand well, suggest that we still have a
lot to learn about our "sister planet". |
