A linear molecular shape would be described as all the atoms lying in a straight line. A linear molecule is generally composed of 2 or three atoms. A linear molecule composed of three atoms would be described as having a bond angle of 180o. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is characterized by linear molecular shape. It is composed of one carbon and two oxygens lying in a straight line.
