It is now possible to build laser systems that can produce focused intensities well over 10$^{17}$ W/cm$^2$ or electric fields exceeding 1 atomic unit ($5\times
10^9$ V/cm). In this regime, the interactions of light with matter is so strong that normal perturbative approaches breakdown, leading to new and unexpected phenomena. We are currently focusing on the behavior of small molecules in strong laser fields with the ultimate goal of controlling their dynamics.
