Archenteron

[Gr. arche - primitive; Gr. enteron - intestine]. The gut cavity formed by gastrulation in metazoan embryos; formed by infolding of part of the outer surface of the blastula and opening to exterior via blastopore. Synonyms: primitive gut, gastrocoele.
