Haversian system

[Clopton Havers, British physician and anatomist, 1650-1702] The basic structural arrangement of compact bone consisting of: a Haversian canal which contains nerves and blood supply, lamellae which are concentric rings of matrix (produced by osteocytes within lacunae), and canaliculi which provide a link between osteocytes.
