| Mesonephros |
[Gr. mesos - middle; Gr. nephros - the kidneys]. The second excretory organ formed in the embryo, caudal to the pronephros. The pronephric ducts become mesonephric or Wolffian ducts. This kidney is fully functional in adult amphibians and fish. The duct portion becomes the epididymis of the testes in amniotes. |
