Japan donates musical equipment to national conservatory
Japan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, donated $400,000 worth of musical equipment to the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music on Friday. Japanese Ambassador Naoto Amaki and Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh signed the protocol agreement for the donation during a ceremony at the conservatory in Sin al-Fil. Conservatory chairman Wakid Ghilmiyeh was in attendance. The donation is part of the Cultural Grant Aid under a Japanese program. Ghilmiyeh offered Salameh and Amaki the conservatory’s Golden Medal for their efforts. Ghilmiyeh said Salameh “made every effort” to support the position of the conservatory in the cultural life of Lebanon. For his part, Salameh thanked Japan for its donation and for its contribution in rehabilitating the country’s cultural heritage by opening national libraries and assisting in other projects.
