Rambert, Dame Marie (1888-1982)

Polish-British dancer and teacher, who exerted a lasting effect on British ballet. Born in Warsaw, she learned eurhythmics from the technique's Swiss founder, Émile Jaques-Dalcroze. She taught it to the Ballets Russes company, thereby influencing the choreography of Russian dancer Vaslav Nijinsky.
