Islamic Art
A piece of cloak made of a golden thread embraced by a silk cord and
a woven linen cloth. It dates back to the Fatimid period during the
reign of caliph Al-Montasser or his son Al-Mostaly in the second half
of the 11th century. It is an ornamental medal with a golden background.
It depicts a knight on a white horse shooting an arrow. It is on the
back of an ornament cloak. This embellished high-quality piece implies
that it is for a prince or a great figure. This kind of fabric was spun
in Damietta, Egypt.
