Korovin, Alaska

Korovin is a stratovolcano on the north end of Atka island in the central Aleutians. It is 13 miles (21 km) north of the small village of Atka. Korovin last erupted in March, 1987.
June 30, 1998

Korovin volcano was observed to be in eruption on the morning of June 30. The Coast Guard reported an ash plume reaching heights of 16,000 ft (~5000 m). A light ash fall was reported in the nearby village of Atka.
