Unnamed, Tonga A new volcanic island has been identified about 30 miles (48 km) from the Tongan capital of Nuku'alofa. It was observed spewing lava and steam on January 18. The island is about 1,000 ft (300 m) long and 130 ft (40 m) wide. Warnings have been issued to ships traveling near the area. |
